The Tennessee State Museum assembled a stunning collection of more than 150 guitars from local collectors for its current exhibition, The Guitar: An American Love Story.

In turn, String Fever, a benefit concert for the Tennessee State Museum Foundation, features a cast of nearly two dozen of the city’s most revered guitarists.

That cast includes Phil Brown, Larry Carlton, Steve Cropper, Duane Eddy, Steve Gibson, Rory Hoffman, Johnny Hyland, John Jorgenson, Colin Linden, Jack Pearson, Al Perkins, Andy Reiss, Marty Stuart, Guthrie Trapp and Steve Wariner, along with a back-up band featuring Peter Abbott, Kenny Greenberg, Jon Jarvis and Michael Rhodes.

The concert takes place at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 12 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, James K. Polk Theater (505 Deaderick St., 615-782-4040), $52-$250
